Briar-Reno FDThe City of Pelican Bay is contracted with the Briar-Reno Fire Department to provide prompt and professional services to our community and to all visitors.

Briar-Reno Fire Rescue is dedicated to the preservation of life, property, and the environment.  We will as a team strive to minimize losses and suffering through fire suppression, rescue, training, fire prevention and public information.

Fire Department & EMS

Overview

Currently, the Briar-Reno Fire Department protects approximately 15,000 people and covers 27.5 square miles of city and county district serving the communities of Briar, Reno, Pelican Bay and Sanctuary. We currently respond from one station located at 185 W. Reno Road, Azle. We have a second fire station in Briar dedicated to volunteer staffing and fleet maintenance, and a third station in Pelican Bay currently dedicated to storage.

Under the direction of an independently organized board of directors made up of community members, the Briar-Reno Fire Department has a Fire Chief/Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Marshal, 6 paid professionals on three shifts, and 10 part-time professionals. Fire/EMS crews consist of a minimum of two personnel per day that work a 48-hour on/96-hour off shift.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Briar-Reno Fire Department offers a full range of fire service capabilities to our community These duties include fire suppression, Haz-Mat, fire prevention, inspection services, Fire Code enforcement, investigation, swift water, technical rescue, and drone operations.

In addition to fire duties, the Briar-Reno Fire Department also provides emergency medical services to the communities of Briar, Reno, Pelican Bay and Sanctuary. All shift personnel are medically trained and certified to state health services requirements.
