ELECTIONS

GENERAL ELECTION – MAY 2, 2020

VOTING LOCATION – CITY HALL, 1300 Pelican Circle, Pelican Bay, TX

ON THE CITY BALLOT:

– Mayor and Aldermen Places 1 and 2

Candidate Qualifications for City Office:

Mayor – Residence–One (1) year in State prior to filing deadline; One (1) year in City prior to filing deadline; Age 18; Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline

Alderman – Residence–One (1) year in State prior to filing deadline; Six (6) months in City prior to filing deadline; Age 18; Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline

MUST NOT have been determined mentally incapacitated by a final judgment of a court.

MUST NOT have been finally convicted of a felony (unless pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities).

 

Filings for candidates will be accepted from January 15, 2020 until February 14, 2020 during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

QUICK REFERENCE DATES:

January 15                First Day to File for Place on Ballot

February 14              Last Day to File for Place on Ballot – must be completed and received by 5:00 p.m.

February 21              Last Day for Ballot Candidate to Withdraw – must be received by 5:00 p.m.

February 24              Draw for Order of Names on Ballot – 10:00 a.m. (subject to change – candidates will be notified if change is necessary)

April 2                       Last Day to Register to Vote in the May 2 election

April 20-28                Early Voting

May 2                        Election Day – 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
