Election Information

We appreciate your interest and encourage your involvement in the municipal election process. The local government level is closest to home and therefore gives you direct influence on your elected officials.

Pelican Bay is a General Law Type A City, with the entire Council elected at-large. Pelican Bay’s City Council is comprised of the Mayor and 5 Aldermen. Terms are two years and are non-paid positions. Municipal Elections for the Mayor, Place 1 and Place 2 are in even numbered years. Place 3, Place 4 and Place 5 are in odd numbered years.

All election notices will be posted on the double glass doors at Pelican Bay City Hall. This is the official posting location of all election notices. Notices will also be posted to the City website.

Candidate Qualifications for City Office:

–Mayor – Residence–One (1) year in State prior to filing deadline; One (1) year in City prior to filing deadline; Age 18; Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline

–Alderman – Residence–One (1) year in State prior to filing deadline; Six (6) months in City prior to filing deadline; Age 18; Must be a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline

MUST NOT have been determined mentally incapacitated by a final judgment of a court.

MUST NOT have been finally convicted of a felony (unless pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities).

The City of Pelican Bay contracts with Tarrant County to administer the elections. During most elections, you will be given an opportunity to vote in person at our City Hall and or another designated Tarrant County voting center during early voting or on the election day.

2023 Municipal Election

The City of Pelican Bay, Texas will hold a Municipal Election on May 6th 2023 to fill three (3) city council seats.  The election will be for Alderman Places 3, 4 & 5 positions. Terms will run for two (2) years each

Notice is given that the first day to file an application for a place on the May 6, 2023 ballot will be January 18, 2023. The deadline will be February 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

An application packet can be picked up at City Hall in the City Secretaries office.

The candidate filing period ran from Jan 18th 2023 through Feb 17th 2023 with all candidates running unopposed.

The May 6, 2023 Elections for Pelican Bay has been cancelled since all candidates  ran unopposed.
