The Department provides the community with the best customer service available in a timely manner. In cooperation with the City Council, the Police Department has developed a progressive approach to community policing and has provided professional, well-trained officers to address concerns and requests from our citizens.

The Department is responsible for the protection of lives, property and the preservation of social order and public peace. It is the hope of the Pelican Bay Police Department that, through a spirit of cooperation, the citizens and the Police Department can make our community a safer place to live.

Two new Reserve Officers were approved by the City Council on Monday, February 12, 2018. We are pleased to welcome these two very experienced men to our Police Force. **** CEDRIC SIMON had a long, distinguished 28-year career with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department, most recently as Chief Deputy. He served in various departments within the Tarrant County Sheriff's organization over his career. ****  MARC SUTTON is a Special Investigator with a major railroad organization and recently moved from California to Texas. He has completed his certification and qualification for police duty since moving to Texas.   **** Both of these officers reside in nearby communities.  [...]

During the City Council meeting of Monday, Oct. 13 a special moment occurred as Chief Porter proudly presented two of his officers with a well-deserved commendation. This award was given to them for going "above & beyond" by giving of their personal time & expense by going down to the Gulf to assist in the hurricane Harvey disaster relief. These two officers are Officer Deselles and Officer Nalley. The city should be proud  that we have officers like that on our police force. **** Following an Executive Session, the council also approved two new part-time Reserve Officers.   >  Officer Jared Harwell joins our force. He is presently employed at a nearby City as a Fire Dept. Investigator, thus he is already an active police officer. His skills in that area will be a big asset to our PD.    >   Officer Eric Stewart is joining our force. He is a recent Police Academy graduate. This fine young gentleman is also one of our Nations finest - a former U.S. Army Ranger. He is the recipient of numerous awards & medals, including being a Purple Heart recipient.   **** This city is very fortunate to having been chosen by such fine officers as a place to maintain their police accreditation.[...]

Please welcome a new full-time officer to the Pelican Bay Police Force. Officer John Thompson was unanimously approved for hire by the City Council on Monday, January 23, 2017. John has been working temporarily for over a month and has totally proven his value to our city during that time and was highly approved for hire by Chief Porter. We anticipate he will be mostly working the evening shifts.[...]

NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS

Please welcome a fine officer back to the city.      Preston Tennison has rejoined our P.D. force.  Preston was sworn in at Monday nights' City Council meeting. Preston had previously left to take a full-time paid position "way out west". Thank goodness he missed us all and decided to return.  ---------- In other P.D. news, unfortunately we have to report that Deputy Chief Steve Combs Sr. has chosen to resign due to health issues. Sad to see this happen - please join us in wishing Steve all the best. And, if you so wish, join with me in keeping him in our prayers for a complete recovery.    [...]

Welcome another recent Reserve Officer to our Police Dept.

We recently added another reserve officer to the Pelican Bay staff. Bobby Pender was sworn in on Dec. 10. Officer Pender resides in Fort Worth, TX and has a 6-year-old daughter. He graduated from the Police Academy just this past year. Let's welcome yet another new addition to our fine P.D. staff. We also want to congratulate one of our former Reserve Officers, Chasstin Terry, who recently left our Reserve Officer staff to accept a full-time, paid position with the Sansom Park P.D. We wish that really fine young man all the best.[...]
