During the City Council meeting of Monday, Oct. 13 a special moment occurred as Chief Porter proudly presented two of his officers with a well-deserved commendation. This award was given to them for going “above & beyond” by giving of their personal time & expense by going down to the Gulf to assist in the hurricane Harvey disaster relief. These two officers are Officer Deselles and Officer Nalley. The city should be proud  that we have officers like that on our police force.

**** Following an Executive Session, the council also approved two new part-time Reserve Officers.

>  Officer Jared Harwell joins our force. He is presently employed at a nearby City as a Fire Dept. Investigator, thus he is already an active police officer. His skills in that area will be a big asset to our PD.

 >   Officer Eric Stewart is joining our force. He is a recent Police Academy graduate. This fine young gentleman is also one of our Nations finest – a former U.S. Army Ranger. He is the recipient of numerous awards & medals, including being a Purple Heart recipient.

**** This city is very fortunate to having been chosen by such fine officers as a place to maintain their police accreditation.
