Well, it's that time of year again - time for clean-up and spruce-up. We will have 2 dumpsters delivered for citizens of the 'Bay to use the whole week, beginning on Saturday, April 19th through Sunday, April 27th. The dumpsters will be located outside of the Municipal Public Works gate at 1713 Pelican Oval. Please remember that these dumpsters are for use by the citizens of Pelican Bay and are to be used for household trash & debris only. We will accept tires, batteries (all types) and household chemicals (no gasoline or flammables, please). We require that you place that type of material in the area marked for them and NOT in the dumpsters. Also, we request that you do not put trash or branches on the ground. If the dumpsters fill up we will get them compacted or emptied as soon as possible.[...]

A new Reserve Officer was sworn in at the Tuesday, Feb. 11th, City Council meeting. And, guess what, we now have a lady officer on the team! Let's welcome Sarah Kanady to our P.D. staff. Sarah is a single mom with 2 great youngsters, and resides in Paradise, TX. She just graduated from the Police Academy last November. She is in her late 20's and works for the Wise County Jail System.[...]

UPDATE: Steve Combs, Jr. was officially hired as a paid part-time officer as of March 29, 2014. He replaces Officer Michael Cepeda who resigned on March 23, 2014. A big congratulations to Officer S. Combs, Jr. Steve was originally sworn in as a Reserve Officer on Jan. 14th. He resides in Fort Worth, with his 2 favorite roommates - his dogs Roxy & Cowboy. He is 28 yrs. young. He graduated from the TCC Police Academy, Class 143 and has taken Criminal Justice courses at TCC as well. He enjoys outdoors activities such as scuba diving, hunting & fishing.[...]

We recently added another reserve officer to the Pelican Bay staff. Bobby Pender was sworn in on Dec. 10. Officer Pender resides in Burleson, TX and has a 6-yr. old daughter. He graduated from the Police Academy just this past year. Let's welcome yet another new addition to our fine P.D. staff. We also want to congratulate one of our former Reserve Officers, Chasstin Terry, who recently left our Reserve Officer staff to accept a full-time, paid position with the Sansom Park P.D. We wish that really fine young man all the best.[...]

Our Christmas Parade was held on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Although it was kinda chilly it seemed that did not deter our citizens from getting out and joining in. We hope all those who participated had a fun, joyful & blessed time. Thanks to all who helped in this celebration, including all the volunteers from the Fire Dept., Police Dept., the Lighthouse Harbor Church, City Council & the Neighborhood Activities Committee.[...]

It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Mayor, Clifford Tynes. His Honor went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2013. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loving family. A Memorial Service was held at 11AM, Monday, December 9th at the Lighthouse Harbor church, 1960 Long Circle, Pelican Bay, TX. The service was officiated by Pastor Glyn Murphy of Lighthouse Harbor Church and visiting Pastor Charles Pugh. Burial service was held later in the day at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, Oklahoma.[...]

In case you've noticed, it's currently missing. Some apparent vandals ran over it. Be assured "It will be back"! We are getting it repaired and will try to protect it better. Have you seen this? We finally are letting people know they have arrived! A new welcome upon entering this great little city. Lots of fine, unnamed volunteers are responsible for this effort  -  at no cost to the taxpayers.[...]
