At our January 11th City Council Meeting several new changes were made to our PD staff. First of all, we officially appointed Robert Porter as Chief of Police. We also welcomed back our former chief, Jason Farris, as a part-time Reserve Officer. In addition, we appointed two additional Reserve Officers - Robert Cross and Aaron Hedgcoth. Officer Cross has been with us for a few weeks but we just got him officially sworn in, He was formally from Nacogdoches, TX. Officer Hedgcoth is a recent Police Academy graduate as well as a former Army MP. We are proud to welcome these changes to our fine Police Staff.[...]

2015 CHRISTMAS PARADE & PARTY

Saturday, December 19th. PARADE starts at approximately 4PM. ** It will kick off at the LHH Church at Long Circle. It will wind around numerous streets in the city and will end up at City Hall. **  The PARTY will be held at City Hall beginning at 5PM. Santa will be there for the kids. There will be candy, cookies, hot chocolate, a bonfire for roasting marshmallows & maybe some TOYS! There will be caroling, singalongs and a Christmas message by the folks from Lighthouse Harbor Church. ** We had a huge parade last year and will be striving to outdo it this year. There will be floats (including one with Santa). Look for a BIG Fire Truck contingent. Participants will consist of our PD, Briar-Reno FD, LHH Church, Neighborhood Committee, City employees & officials, as well as many dedicated city residents. When you hear the parade rumbling through your area, get out there with your whole gang and cheer them along!  [...]

This Christmas season we are once again offering the Toys For Tots program for the children of Pelican Bay. Signups are being accepted now through Saturday, November 28.  Signup forms may be picked up at City Hall Monday thru Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and on Saturday, November 28 from 9 AM to Noon. SafeLink Wireless will be accepting signups for FREE cell phones on Wednesday, October 28th. **  An area will be set up near the Pelican Bay Kwik Stop at the corner of Liberty School Road & Sandy Beach Rd. between the hours of 2 & 6 PM. **      To qualify you must be currently receiving certain government benefits such as: Medicaid, CHIP, Food Stamps or SNAP, Supplemental Social Security (SSI), Federal Housing Assistance, or certain other state/federal benefits.  You also must provide a current valid ID, Social Security ID, and proof of the specified qualifying program/s.[...]

O.K. summer's almost over, fall is getting here. Time to clean up & spruce up around your home. ****  Beginning on Saturday, Oct. 17 thru Sunday, Oct. 25 there will be two dumpsters available for Pelican Bay RESIDENTS ONLY to use for disposing of your household trash & stuff. The dumpsters will be located at the south end of the Water Dept. compound, 1713 Pelican Oval. PLEASE - be responsible citizens and follow a few simple rules:  put trash in the dumpsters - NOT on the ground. If the dumpsters fill up they will be compressed or emptied - so come back later! Please only dispose of household trash - NO COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION MATERIAL. Please DO NOT BLOCK the driveway access for city vehicles. Areas will also be marked by signs of where to place liquids, tires, batteries & scrap metals. DO NOT LEAVE televisions or computer monitors! IDs may be requested by monitors to verify residency of anyone leaving trash, as well as checking of type and source of materials being disposed of.[...]

Although this event is mostly celebrated elsewhere in August, Texans choose to hold it on the first Tuesday in October to avoid the summer heat. We will be celebrating this year on Tuesday night, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 PM. Our Pelican Bay PD will be hosting the event outside City Hall, 1300 Pelican Circle. Representatives of the Police Department, Briar-Reno VFD, various city officials and volunteers from Lighthouse Harbor Church will be assisting in the event. There will be fun & games, an opportunity to meet your police & fire officials as well as meet & mingle with your neighbors. Also, there will be several nicely reconditioned bicycles to be given away to some lucky folks. [...]

Saturday, October 3 the city will once again be hosting a low cost pet vaccine clinic at City Hall, 1300 Pelican circle, Pelican Bay, TX. The times for this clinic will be from 10:00 AM to Noon. Please try to get there early as long lines tend to develop. Rabies shots for dogs and cats will be ONLY $5.00. Other vaccines ans services may also be available at a low cost. ** City Personnel will be available to process pet registrations. **  Proof of rabies vaccination is required when registering your pet(s).  >> NOTE: Payment must be in cash or credit card ONLY.   ** Dogs must be on leash or in carrier, cats must be in carrier.   >>     This clinic is provided be Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP).[...]
