SPRING CLEANUP TIME

SPRING CLEANUP TIME

It's that time of the year again - time to clean up, clean out & spruce up your home and get ready for summertime! **** Beginning on Saturday, April 18th and through to Sunday, April 26th there will again be two dumpsters available for 'Bay residents to use for disposing of your household trash & debris. The dumpsters will be placed at the usual spot at the south end of 1713 Pelican Oval. If you need assistance in removing and hauling off your materials please call City Hall at 817-444-1234 and we will try to get someone to assist you. Please be responsible citizens and follow a few simple guidelines: put trash in the dumpsters & not on the ground, if dumpsters are full please wait until they have been compressed or emptied, please only dispose of personal household trash and NOT construction or demolition material and please DO NOT block the driveway access for city vehicles. Areas will be marked, on the ground, for placement of liquids (paint, household liquids, NO gasoline), tires, batteries & scrap metal. NOTE also that we DO NOT accept televisions or CRT monitors![...]

GARDEN OF FEEDEN

GARDEN OF FEEDEN

Pastor Glyn Murphy held a Grand Opening and Dedication ceremony for the new Community Garden on Saturday March 28th. Thanks to all those who attended as well as to all the volunteers who have been helping to make this a reality. The garden is still being developed and expanded, but a few beds are "ready to go". As a matter of fact, one local resident even planted the first item, a Rosemary plant. In addition to the garden area, several apple and peach trees have also been planted. The garden is located at 1960 Long Circle, adjoining the LHH Church. Garden beds are available, for a very small fee, for any residents of the 'Bay who wish to try out their "green thumb" and plant a few veggies. For more information, please call 817-444-3537.[...]

Preston had previously left to take a full-time paid position "way out west". Thank goodness he missed us all and decided to return.  ---------- In other P.D. news, unfortunately we have to report that Deputy Chief Steve Combs Sr. has chosen to resign due to health issues. Sad to see this happen - please join us in wishing Steve all the best. And, if you so wish, join with me in keeping him in our prayers for a complete recovery.    [...]

POST CHRISTMAS NEWS

POST CHRISTMAS NEWS

Do you all know this? >>>>> Pelican Bay made Channel 11 TV News! <<<<<      And it was ALL GOOD! Yes, our new Briar-Reno Fire Department partnered with the 'Bay Police Department to participate in a "Secret Santa" program. On Christmas Eve Day they provided over 20 Pelican Bay residents with gift cards to Walmart. All funds were raised by the fire fighters of the combined Fire Departments. What a great way to show their support and concern for the residents of our city! Imagine getting pulled over by one of our fine P.D. officers and be given a "Gift Card" rather than a warning or ticket! ----- Watch for more info on this website soon for a complete update on the new Fire Department.   [...]

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! ________________ Our annual Christmas Parade and Party was held on Saturday, December 13, 2014. ********** WASN'T IT SOMETHING? ************************** Man, the parade RUMBLED through town and surely got folks out of their homes to see what all that ruckus was about!        Weren't those "bikes" something?     We truly appreciated their participation and contributions.       This was possibly the largest parade that I think the city has ever had.     We owe a great deal of thanks to ALL the participants.               And the Party at City Hall was very well attended also. The kids sure kept Santa busy.       Also - many thanks to ALL the firemen & gals who turned out.    *************************************************    [...]
